After the festive season, many of us are left with a little more weight than we’d like. The New Year is a good time to make a start at shedding that extra weight. Unfortunately, it’s not always easy to keep up the good work when you’re going it alone. That’s why One You Cheshire East is here with advice and support to help you lose weight and feel great. Better still, it’s free!
Here are some tips to get you started.
Move More
Exercise doesn’t have to mean going to the gym every night or getting serious about a sport. It can be much gentler, and much simpler than that. Walking, cycling, playing football with friends or even starting with gentle seated exercises all count. Setting simple goals and tracking your progress are all great ways of keeping your motivation up. The important thing is to keep going.
Eat Well
As we all know, what we eat affects what we weigh. It’s not only a question of eating less, it’s about eating smart. Steer clear of fad diets and ‘quick fixes’, taking control of your weight with a long-term plan is the best way to feel great and lead a healthy lifestyle. Try to balance what you eat with how active you are. To lose weight you need to burn off more calories than you take in, but don’t starve yourself or drain yourself of energy. It’s best to make a gradual but dedicated change, not a short-lived dramatic change. Visit our Eat Well page for more details.
Drink Less
Alcohol is a big factor in putting on too much weight. Drinking too much and too often can significantly bloat our waistlines, and can undo the hard work we’ve put into exercise or eating well. If you want advice on managing how much you drink, visit our Drink Less page and see how we can help.
