What Is Stand Strong?

Stand Strong is a gentle, supportive programme for adults aged 65+ who want to improve their balance, mobility and confidence.

Using the proven Otago approach, our trained instructors guide you through simple exercises that make everyday movements easier and safer.

You’ll learn how to:

  • Strengthen your legs and core
  • Improve balance and stability
  • Move more confidently
  • Reduce your risk of falls
  • Stay active and independent

What’s Included

A combination of weekly classes, home exercises and practical education.

Strength & Balance Classes

Friendly, small‑group sessions led by qualified instructors. You’ll work at your own pace with exercises tailored to your ability.

Prefer to join from home? Take part online.

Prescribed Home Exercises

Simple movements you can do safely at home to build strength between classes.

Fall Prevention Education

Learn how to reduce risks around the home, improve confidence and stay steady on your feet.

Am I Eligible?

You may be eligible if you:

Live in Cheshire East

Are aged 65 or over

And one or more of the following apply:

You’ve had two or more falls

You’ve had a recent fall in the last 12 months

You have difficulty walking or balancing

Once you sign up, we’ll invite you to a clinic appointment for further eligibility testing.

After the 26 Weeks

Your progress doesn’t stop when the programme ends. You’ll be offered a discounted membership or pay‑as‑you‑go options, so you can continue building strength and confidence.
